The Norwegian puzzle - find your missing pieces
30. God jul! Godt nytt år! "Takk for det gamle!" (+ podcast plan for 2026)
The shortest days can still spark the biggest plans. We open with Yule—what it actually means, why it isn’t the same as Christmas, and how the return of light offers a practical metaphor for steady progress. From there, I take you behind the scenes of how the show gets made. It’s imperfect by design, and that’s why the feedback loop with listeners matters so much.
Looking ahead, I'm committing to weekly releases until I reach fifty episodes, then shifting toward a more intentional cadence as I launch a membership for listeners who want to go deeper. Expect subscriber-only episodes, thoughtful Q&A, and a small, focused space where you can ask questions, share feedback, and be part of a smaller community of other learners.
If this resonated, follow the show, share it with a friend who needs a push in their language learning journey. Your ideas shape where we go next—drop a comment with your resolutions or the topics you want us to tackle.

This is my final episode before Christmas and the New Year. So I wanted to take a little bit of time to say "God jul"! Godt nytt år! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. And if you didn't know, "jul" doesn't have anything to do with Christmas actually. "jul" is the celebration of days becoming lighter and lighter, which I really look forward to. The word "jul" in itself is not a Christian word, but the celebration in Norway is I guess a mix between pagan traditions and the Christian tradition, Christmas. Um I wanted to ask you: "Har du noen nyttårsforsetter?" Do you have any New Year's resolutions? Do you believe in New Year's resolutions? Let me know in the comment field below. I want to end this year with some thoughts about how making this podcast has been up to now. Since I started, I think I started in March 2025. And my plans for the future. So I have really liked making these podcasts both at home and also outdoors, uh, like I do right now. To combine those two possibilities, and um uh mostly just making episodes based based on what I am inspired to do in the moment. I have tons of ideas noted down for later. Before I go to sleep, I can have ideas that I just have to note down so that I don't forget them. So there are many episodes to come, hopefully. And if you have any ideas or any questions, then please let me know, and I would love to hear them from you. I make these episodes in between my private lessons whenever I have the motivation and some extra time. I don't spend a lot of time preparing them, which means that, well, nothing is perfect, but you know, sometimes after I made an episode, I might think of things that I could have mentioned. So if you have any questions about them, just let me know and I would be happy to answer them. So my plan is to continue making episodes every week until I reach 50 episodes, and from them I might slow it down a little bit because I want to make a special membership for those of my followers who really like my podcast and want to learn more. So I will start publishing some episodes that are only for subscribers, and I would like to create a small community where people can comment and ask questions and we can we can talk together about the different episodes, and maybe there will be some other content as well. Who knows? Also, there if you have any ideas, I would love to hear from you. So that will be an option from next year, and I will of course let you know when that is available. Ha en fin jul! Og et godt nytt år! and as we say in Norwegian: "Takk for det gamle!" Thanks for the old, as in "thanks for the old year." Takk for det gamle! Vi høres!
